After Odeon (International Talking Machine Company) was formed at the turn of the century, they sent people out to make recordings in all over the world. It's hard to find information since the Odeon factory was destroyed at the end of WW2. A mysterious label which made many ethnic recordings in a time before film music swept regional variations away, Odeon's activities allow us today to hear music that would otherwise have been irretrievable. I found a reference to Haim Effendi, which this artist might be but with a different spelling of his name...recorded by Odeon and he sung Turkish and sephardic music at the turn of the century.

This song sounds like an old man on some side street in the middle ages singing an ancient song.

Side B - Isfaban Charki Mechrebi avaremi 46123

This song sounds more like a mystical chant of some kind, puts you kind of in a trance. Very simple and very ancient sounding.

V+/V has a few scratches & scuffs but I can't tell if the way the record was recorded is part of the sound or not.

Plays fine with no skips. Average wear. Has some background noise but you can hear the songs clearly

Has an edge chip that is into the blank space, not into the music track.

Odeon Records was a record label founded in 1903 by Max Strauss and Heinrich Zunz  of the International Talking Machine Company in Berlin, Germany.  It was named after a famous theatre in Paris, whose classical dome appears on the Odeon record label. In 1904 Odeon launched the first double-sided gramophone records. The American Record Company began doing pressings of 10æ-inch blue-shellac discs for Odeon to export to Europe in 1905 or 1906, all double-sided. In 1909 it created the first recording of a large orchestral work and what may have been the first record album when it released a 4-disk set of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite with Hermann Finck conducting the London Palace Orchestra.

In July 1911 it became a subsidiary of the Carl Lindstrˆm Company, which also owned Beka Records, Parlophone and Fonotipia. Lindstrˆm was acquired by the English Columbia Graphophone Company in 1926. In 1931 Columbia merged with Electrola, HMV and other labels to form EMI. ......from wiki

This might be him: Haim Effendi was born in Edirne (formerly Adrianople in Western Thrace, today Turkey) in 1853. Owing to his birthplace he was also known as Edirneli Haim Effendi and owing to the family's profession as Haim Yapa??,  or "Haim the wool man or Wool Merchant." He spent most of his life Edirne but also toured extensively. From 1925 to 1936 he lived in Alexandria, Egypt. He passed away in Cairo in 1937. According to the Greek researcher Aristomenis Kalyviotis, Haim Effendi recorded Turkish repertory for Odeon in 1906-1907, and probably even earlier (1905), in Constantinople. His first Sephardic recordings came in 1907-1908. He doubtless made the acquaintance of the Blumenthal brothers, Julius and Hermann, who served as local agents for Odeon.
