I Kong aka Errol Kong aka Ricky Storme aka Ricky of Bunny & Ricky Bushweed Corntrash fame, cousin of legendary early reggae producer Leslie Kong, former member of The Jamaicans of Baba Boom fame alongside Tommy Cowan and hero to rootsmen who regard his original cut of The Way It Is, the one on Cowan's Top Cat label and included on Pressure Sounds' More Pressure compilation, as one of the greatest records ever made.

Originally issued in 1979 on the Top Ranking label this, his sole LP release, soon disappeared without trace and has since become a desirable object for collectors.

The version of The Way It Is here is a fresh recording, different from the single, made especially for this album, and listening to the album now its clear that a lot of effort was spent on creating a reggae album of quality, roots with quality as Third World – members of whom contributed to the album - might have said. Kong possessed a fine tenor not unlike Bob Andy's at times, other times his delivery favours Yabby U. Recorded at Harry J, Dynamic and Lee Perry's Black Ark and featuring players such as Family Man Barrett, Mikey Boo Richards, Pablove Black, Mikey "Ibo" Cooper, Mikey and Geoffrey Chung, Scully and Sticky, Cedric Brooks, Tommy McCook, Dirty Harry, Deadly Headley, Dean Fraser, Vin Gordon and with Judy Mowatt, Prilly Hamilton and no less than Beres Hammond on backing vocals, tracks such as Life's Road, Babylon Walls, Sinner Man, I Wish (We'll All Be Ready),
The Way It Is and the stunningly beautiful Wolves In Sheep's Clothing are evidence of a rare talent shamefully ignored and discouraged by his experiences in the music biz.

Not a peep has been heard of I Kong since the original release of this album but anyone with a taste for the classic seventies roots reggae sound will scratch their heads and wonder why.
