Description

This is an original mono pressing of the Horace Silver Quintet - 6 Pieces of Silver with Hank Mobley, Ray Brown, Doug Watkins, and Louis Hayes. Mono, Original label, Deep Groove pressing. 1957. Blue Note Records BLP 1539. Remastered by Rudy Van Gelder, w/ RVG and the “ear” in the deadwax.


Note that this pressing is has the "New York USA" label on both sides (with no address), and the "43 West 61st" on the jacket rear. (I don’t know what the interpretation of these details should be, given Blue Notes complicated pressing history).


Sound: I play graded all tracks, and the album is super crisp sounding. There is light intermittent crackle on both sides.


Cover: The cover front is in good condition -- there is a rip in the paper on the right side (see photo). The back is in Very Good condition. There is some splitting starting at the front seam. I have put the cover and disc in a clear  plastic protective sleeve.

I have carefully cleaned the albums using LAST Power Cleaner for Records.
