Description
This is an auction for the RARE Horace Silver Quintet - Finger Poppin' - BLUE NOTE BST-4008 stereo with 47 West 63rd NYC deep groove DG labels. With Blue Mitchell, Junior Cook, Horace Silver, Eugene Taylor and Louis Hayes. Engineered by Rudy Van Gelder - 'RVG STEREO' stamped and an 'ear' in trailoff both sides.
Record is visually graded as Mint- to VG++ with only a few light hairlines but almost no spindle marks on labels and PLAY GRADES Mint- (mostly) to VG++ with hardly any ticks or background noise - piano solos on side 2 are super quiet . Sound quality is superb, realistic audiophile quality - Rudy Van Gelder at his best recording excellent performances from the musicians - a stereo gem from 1959. Laminated cover is VG+ with great spine but wear at corners including a 1/2" split at upper right and a 3" split at the upper left top edge which was taped at some point, small writing at upper left back cover. One of several hard to find 50s, 60s & 70s Jazz pressings I'll be listing on Ebay this week.
