Description

Henryk Szeryng - Violin Claude Maillols - Piano
Music from Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico
Philips 6500 016 VG+
The LP is in VG+ condition. Overall the sound quality is EX. There is no surface noise to speak of for much of the record, and only a few pop/ticks. On side one there are 4 repetitive ticks. Three of them are very quiet and short (2 or 3 revs) and the other lasts around 40 seconds, but is also quiet. On side two there is some soft surface noise at the beginning which is intermittent during the first two tracks, but not very audible. There are two quiet repetitive ticks in the last track (Ponce) one is 7 revs, and was caused by dirt/dust stuck to the record surface which I partially removed, but I think could be removed completely with a proper clean. The other is  2 revs. The cover is in VG+ condition. A little lightly scuffed at the edges, but basically in nice presentable shape, with just some signs of ageing on the back
This is a very unusual recital record, featuring repertoire which was mostly unknown to me. It consists mostly of short encore style works, many from South American composers who I had not heard of before. Szeryng plays magnificently with superb accompaniment from Maillols. There are a few repetitive ticks which I have mentioned, but honestly, they were not disturbing to me, even the long one. Overall this record plays extremely well and is very enjoyable.

This LP comes from a large collection of records owned by a retired music professor that I am selling on his behalf. There are some gems in the collection which I will post for auction soon. I do no grade the records visually, I listen to them in their entirety and try to give as accurate description of the condition as I can.

If purchasing more than one LP please wait for a revised invoice before making payment. If you have any postage preferences then contact me as soon as possible to let me know. I send parcels by first class, but I am happy to revise this and send them 2nd class if you prefer, and for large orders to look for cheaper courier options. For international buyers, if you want to have your LP sent as a registered parcel to be signed for, please contact me before making your payment.
