Henry James – ‘Vank Out’ / ‘Version’ – Jah Man (JA)
A rare roots tune of the highest order, this is Peter Broggs’s first disc, recorded under his own name, Henry James! The Jamaican patois of the refrain, “If you don’t love Jah, you really got to vank out”, roughly translates as “If you don’t love Jah, you really got to push off”. Recorded at Channel One, the tune allegedly features “Bingy” Bunny and “Flabba” Holt of the Roots Radics on rhythm guitar and bass, respectively. Very scarce in any condition, this is a true collector’s item, don’t miss it!Condition: The A-side plays VG+ or perhaps a notch better. The B-side has remnants of, of all things, candle wax, which cause some noise. There may be a way of removing the wax completely, but I haven’t attempted it. I’ve played the record three or four times, and it seems the wax disappears little by little each time the stylus “digs” into grooves. I’ve included a full clip of the version side; it isn’t too bad. And the A-side sounds great (please listen to the clips). Slightly worn, slightly smudged labels; both sides have a record shop stamp (please see scans).

Please contact me for further combined shipping rates. Yes, shipping from Sweden is expensive, but it’s usually swift and safe.
American bidders please note that shipping is not US $4.00; this is eBay’s American default setting and not applicable as I am based in Sweden. Please use the postage rates above, or wait for my invoice. Thanks!
Please note that like many other sellers of reggae on eBay, I’ve been the victim of so called ‘fake bidders’, bad minded people with no intention of purchasing the item they bid on and whose only game seems to be to ruin the auction for buyers and sellers alike. If your feedback is zero, please get in touch with me before bidding, or unfortunately I will have to cancel your bid.
In the event that the record is won by a ‘fake bidder’, to save some time, I will sell it to the second highest bidder before attempting to relist it. Obviously, the second highest bid will have been raised, as it were, artificially by the ‘fake bidder’. To the extent that it’s possible, when making a Second Chance offer, I will try to lower the selling price to one increment above the third highest bid by way of offering a discount or free shipping (or both). Please bear in mind that the Second Chance offer is an automated one (by eBay) and the amount can not be changed by me. Hopefully this auction will be free from any such problems!
Happy to answer any questions! Please see my other auctions with many rare items this week!
Thanks for looking and good luck!
