This rare double LP set (Mono) is "an attempt to unravel some of the complexities in Hemingway's personality. It is a condensation of many hours of recordings made of the people who knew him best, or at least those who were closest to him in various periods of his life..."
It is an extraordinary compilation of interviews with people who knew Hemingway best: Ezra Pound (one of the few interviews Pound granted in his later years), Hadley Mowrer (Hemingway’s first wife), Malcolm Cowley, Archibald MacLeish, Morley Callaghan, Sylvia Beach, Mary Hemingway (wife #4), A.E. Hotchner, Harold Loeb (the prototype for Robert Cohn in The Sun Also Rises), Marceline Hemingway Sandford, Bill Smith (a boyhood friend), Toby Bruce (Hemingway’s driver and handy man), and others. They present an extraordinary warts-and-all amalgam of the writer, the man, and the myth, rich in anecdote and insight. Interspersed with the interview material are excerpts from a number of Hemingway’s works, read by Warren Wilson.
Condition is beautiful. Although I don't grade records professionally, sleeve shows little wear, just around the corners, but the sleeves and the vinyl is VG++/NM-, conservatively graded. No marks at all.
