Russell Jacquet and his Orch The Heart Beats Quintet Tormented b/w After Everybody's Gone Network 71200 The first Heartbeats record! This is the absolute true first pressing of this legendary disc as verified by noted vocal group record expert Louie Silvani of Times Square Records who personally examined this copy to determine it's authenticity. According to Louie, original pressings must be on thick grainy wax, similar to the first pressings of the Dreamers disc on Rollin'. This only makes sense as both discs were from the same year (1955) and were pressed in Philly and probably used the same pressing plant. He also stated that most collectors may think that they have originals in their collection but in reality they have later issues. This is contrary to the information in the Kreiter guide which only differentiates between the thickness of the wax. I'd grade this disc as VG+, it has a few primarily light marks on the wax., a couple of which you can feel slightly with your finger. Super rare disc. All discs are carefully packed with 2 pieces of cardboard on each side of the disc and placed within a special professional bubble wrapped mailer. My Grading System: Mint (M) I do not use this grade ever. Mint- (M-) Near perfect record. Very Good +++ (VG+++) Close to M-. May have a minor mark or two. Very Good ++ (VG++) Clean copy. A few scuffs and surface marks may be apparent. Very Good + (VG+) Decent copy. Will have a few scratches and scuffs, some light noise. Very Good (VG) Your average used record. Many marks and scratches but disc can still be enjoyed with some background noise apparent. Very Good- (VG-) Heavily used record. A lot of scratches. Will play with a good degree of background noise. Good + (G+) Rough copy. Will play through without skips. Good (G) Trashed. Good for skeet shooting! Keep in mind some discs were pressed on cheap vinyl, especially certain 1950's R&B indies and even near mint copies can play with surface noise. I always try to post a sound clip so that you can hear how the actual disc plays.
