Hear 1966 Surprise Package Garage Psych DJ 45 Out of My Mind / Everything's Fine

The Surprise Package Out of My Mind b/w Everything Fine (Columbia 43922). Great fall of 1966 release by this band out of Seattle, WA consisting of Greg Beck (guitar, backing vocals), Kim Eggers (lead vocals & Sax), Michael Rogers (piano, organ, bass, backing vocals), and Fred Zeufeldt (drums, backing vocals). Previously known as the Viceroys, they had previously recorded, but after doing some Dick Clark Where the Action Is tours and shows with their friends Paul Revere and the Raiders, they recorded on Columbia Records, produced by Jerry Fuller. During a mixdown session, Lou Adler (the Mamas and Papas producer) suggested the name 'The Surprise Package' to replace the dated 'Viceroys' handle. They recorded four songs under Fuller's production: Eastside, Westside, Going Out of My Mind, The Merry Go Round, and The Other Me, written by Jimmy Griffin and Michael Z. Gordon in 1967. Out of Mind is a solid garage vocal while the flip is a good psychedelic instrumental. Take a listen to a little of each side. Record is a DJ copy in VG+ condition (has Rock written on one label and a small sticker on each label.)
