Legendary Latin Jazz Funk LP that is one of the few records that lives up to its hype (Soulstrut recommendation). Fantastic club tracks plus plenty of Soul Jazz for home listening pleasures. I hate to sell this, but I need some money to buy me a new kitchen!
Eddie Palmieri's masterpiece. He's on piano, his brother Charlie on organ and Hammond(?), Jimmy Norman on vocals (what a voice!), Bob Bianco on guitar, Ronnie Cuber on sax, Nick Marrero on drums and Victor Venegas. Other musicians include Manny Oquendo, Bob Mann, CORNELL DUPREE, RANDY BRECKER, Dick Meza, BERNARD PURDIE (PURDY), Eladio Perez, Victor Venegas, and Andy Gonzales.
Each track has a party vibe to it. There are no dull moments. The record was recorded to bring together Latin and Black musicians of New York. It's Latin music combined with Black Soul Jazz, Electric Rock and quite a bit of Funk. The singing is perfect and the drummers deliver a strong background for each instrument! Rmbling basslines meet screaming organs and guitar licks. One of the hottest Jazz Funk records around. Very hard to find. "Seeds Of Life" might be best known, but all tracks are totally awesome!
