I am still learning about grading records, so if the buyer feels that I have mis-graded a record, please contact me so I can correct the problem.
Grading
My grading generally follows Goldmine standards, but I base much on how the record sounds and plays. I have provided the definitions I use below:
Mint= The only record I'll give this grade to is one that is still sealed.
NM= The record looks flawless and plays the same.
VG+= The record plays beautifully and has no scratches. There may be a slight scuff or two.
VG= The record plays beautifully but may have visible scratches or scuffs that do not affect the playing. There may be surface noise in some of the soft passages, intro and fade.
G+= Visible scratches and wear that are evident when played, but not enough to interfere with the music.
G= Bad looking record with scratches, wear and scuffing. The record plays without skips. The surface noise is distracting for a quiet evening but acceptable for background music while working or when in a noisy environment.
NM / Near mint = No more than the minor defect, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.
VG+ / Very Good + = LP cover may have slight signs of wear and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was take out of print. Sleeves may have slight ring wear, slightly turned up corners or a slight split seam.
VG / Very Good = Same defects as VG+ but more pronounced. May have writing, tape or stickers (or residue) but not all these problems – maybe 2 or 3.
G / Good = Split seams, especially at bottom and spine. Tape, writing, wear and other defects will start to overwhelm the cover/sleeve.
