Human Instinct – “Pins In It” LP (orig. New Zealand Pye STEREO NSPL 28107, gatefold cover)

Release date: June 1971.  Recording dates: May 1971.

On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original NEW ZEALAND issue of the third album by HUMAN INSTINCT, which included MAURICE GREER (drums & lead vocals), lead guitarist BILLY TK (a musician often touted as the M?ori JIMI HENDRIX) and bass guitarist NEIL EDWARDS (UNDERDOGS).  “Pins In It” is considered by some critics as one of their finest albums.

This LP includes a cover version of PINK FLOYD’s “The Nile Song”, which manages to outshine the original by turning up the velocity.  There are many other ACID ROCK highlights on this LP including a re-working of THE UNDERDOGS’ “Duchess of Montrose”.  BILLY TK threatens to blow guitar shards out of your speakers.  I’ve included YouTube links to a few of my favourite LP cuts below.  Enjoy!

Cover:

front: VG textured matt finish: creasing (top-left & bottom-left corners, along bottom seam / also insignificant along spine & top-right corner), minor scuffing (along spine, top & bottom seams), split spine (120mm from bottom) > reduced minimum bid, NO OTHER SEAM SPLITS, minimal surface rubbing, minor staining.  Almost impossible to find without some damage to the cover or ring-wear!

inside gatefold: VG+ to VG++ matt finish—flipback on right: minor creasing (along bottom seam, left side), minor overall discolouration, also some spot staining (mainly on right side), discreet name written in pen (right side – hard to see).

back: VG+ to VG++ textured matt finish: insignificant ring-wear (outer rim – top & bottom only, very hard to see), minor creasing (along spine, top & bottom seams, all four corners), minimal surface rubbing, minor staining.  Almost impossible to find without ring-wear!

Record:

visual: EX++ beautiful glossy sheen—some completely insignificant hairlines on an otherwise exceptional disc (one very light surface scuff at very beginning of track 1 only, therefore EX) (seen under strong light).

audible: M- SOUNDS SUPERB – A HIGHLY ENJOYABLE LISTENING EXPERIENCE!

labels: HARDLY ANY SPINDLE WEAR / small round sticker stain (side 2).

POSSIBLY THE BEST COPY OF THE DISC THAT YOU WILL EVER SEE!!
