HUCKLE – Wild Blue Yonder. Mapache Records MAPA 0004 LP. Spanish release. NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1976 as a limited edition private pressing. This edition issued in 2014. His second album. Remastered from the original tapes. Limited to a press run of just 500 copies. Features the original cover art and includes insert. Comes housed in a clear resealable outer mylar sleeve; as shipped by the label. MUSICIANS:  Huckle (acoustic and electric guitar, flute, bass, piano, vocals), Paul Gellman (piano, fiddle, guitar), Wende Sinclair (vocals), Tommy Agostino (bass, vocals), Bob Walshaw (drums), Straw (wooden stick drums), and Sky (guitar on Flower). TRACKS:  Wild Blue Yonder, Rolling River, I Surrender, Flower To The Sun, She’s Coming Home, Beautiful You Are, High For Sky, Gather The Children, and Wild Night. DESCRIPTION:  Wild Blue Yonder is a cosmic-psych folk rock masterpiece recorded in 1976 as his second album. After his accoustic debut, 1974’s Upon A Once Time (also available in my listings), Huckle recorded this album with a full band creating a fascinating mix between folk and rock. This is a favorite album for folk and roots music collectors. Extremely rare and hard to find, it has sold for up to $400 on auctions. Sometimes with an Astral Weeks flavor, this album combines great songwriting with an excellent freedom flow feeling and a very special performance. Mapache presents this vinyl reissue, digitally remastered from the original tapes including original artwork and extra insert with unseen pictures. Limited edition of just 500 copies.  

For your further reading enjoyment and enlightenment I offer the following additional background information:

The singer-songwriter known as Huckle was born in 1954 and grew up in Montreal and Toronto, Canada. Huckle moved west to Gabriola Island (by Vancouver) in 1973 and helped organize two western tours by Perth County Conspiracy, performing the warmup act for some of the shows. In the Spring 1974, on the first of the tours, a live recording was made of eleven original Huckle songs with Gary McKeehan engineering. These tracks became Huckle's first album release, titled Upon A Once Time. 500 copies were pressed and mostly sold off the stage at concerts for a mere $3, now going for $300+. In the Summer of 1974 Huckle moved to Salt Spring Island and joined the wildly popular local band Sodbusters. They threw boogies at community halls on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and the mainland. They also had a grant to tour and perform in BC prisons and work camps. That fall they recorded an album with Si Garber in Vancouver, now also very rare. After wintering in Central America, a summer 1975 tour in eastern Canada included performances by Huckle at many folk festivals (Home County, Northern Lights) and folk coffeehouses (Black Swan, Yellow Door). Paul Gellman and Huckle did a caravan cross Canadian tour that Fall, with Laura, Cathy, Sam and Jeremy, and Sally Sunshine along, and landed back on Gabriola Island. Huckle and Paul formed a band, Wild Blue Yonder, with Wende Sinclair, Tom Agostino, and Straw. They did a western Canadian tour in the Spring of 1976 including a live radio show at the Hovel in Edmonton with Holger Petersen. A third tour in the Fall of 1976 as a duo with Tom Agostino introduced the second Huckle album Wild Blue Yonder, now quite rare in its original vinyl release. Recorded live and in the studio, 300 copies were pressed. Also that year Huckle performed on the national CBC radio show Touch The Earth with Sylvia Tyson and Bill Garrett. In 1977 Huckle moved back to Salt Spring Island and began performing solo again, mostly in Victoria. This led to the formation of the Real Fantasy Band. He teamed up with some jazz fusion players (including Hugh Fraser), and played festivals and shows with them for three years. His third album Real Fantasy had band recordings on side one and acoustic solo tracks recorded at Michael Grieve's Keye Studio in Victoria on side two, released on cassette only.

If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

RETURN POLICY:

NON-ARRIVAL OF PACKAGES:

It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

INTERNATIONAL Customers:  Please wait at least 3 weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. If security is your concern please have your package registered (see above for fee). I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With first class mail international my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery (especially to Italy), though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
