RVG & "the ear" etched in the dead wax
47 W 63rd St. NYC address on labels ~ Deep Groove ~ Original First Issue
Classic laminated front cover ~ "High Fidelity"
VINYL: VG+: Very thick & heavy. Several light surface marks that prove to be strictly cosmetic. Very black & shiny. Slight surface noise in quiet passages.
COVER : EX: Glossy, laminated front cover with only very slight ringwear. Spine is very legible & sharp. Both seams are intact & sharp. There is some yellowing & minor shelf wear on back. Lamination is very slightly buckling at a small portion of the opening edge. Top right corner is slightly bent. Opening edge is sharp. BLP 1589, with a wonderful color photo of the young artist, offers classic Blue Note graphics.
INNER SLEEVE: Audiophile (+ original wax paper)
LABELS : Very sharp. Original classic Blue Note.
RANDOM NOTES: Horace's all-star quintet on FURTHER EXPLORATIONS includes Art Farmer, Cliff Jordan, Teddy Kotick & Louis Hayes. Six great songs including "Moon Rays", "Safari", "The Outlaw" & "Pyramid". This is a true Early/Hard Bop classic. Here is an actual 1st issue, Deep Groove Mono copy of an excellent Horace Silver LP.
Please e-mail for the complete song list.
A SIMPLE VINYL GRADING SYSTEM :
Mint: Still Sealed/Unplayed/Unopened
Mint minus (M-): New and Possibly Unplayed ; a rarely used grade.
Near Mint (NM): Like-new, with little or no visible wear; very collectible.
Near Mint minus (NM-): almost like-new, perhaps very slight signs of age, play or wear that are strictly cosmetic.
Excellent (EX) Very Good double-plus (VG++): Way above average, very nice, no serious flaws; played, not abused.
Very Good plus (VG+): An above average used LP; a few visible surface marks or paper scuffs; slight surface noise.
Very Good (VG) : An average used LP, far from perfect; a few light scratches. Some noise; plays through, no skips.
Very Good minus (VG-) : Reveals lots of wear when viewed or spun but is not actually defective or warped.
LP Cover grading is a much less exact, more subjective science. Generally, the truly collectible grades range from Mint to Excellent (VG++) depending on general wear. Main cover flaws such as split seams or spine splits, ring wear, cut or bent corners, hole punches, writing, water damage etc. should always be mentioned in a proper auction listing. These factors or lack thereof will combine to determine the grade. Please email if you desire more details about any cover/record/insert or poster listed by bearswaxrecords.

All records are professionally sight-graded, sometimes play-graded. Please keep in mind that used LPs from the '50s & '60s are very rarely found in actual Mint condition, seldom in actual Near Mint. Sadly, record care was not always a priority in those days. Proper record grading involves skill, knowledge & honesty, not wishful thinking.
All CDs & DVDs up for auction are originals, not copies. Pictures shown in a Bear's Wax Records listing are of the actual item up for bid. International bidders are always welcome. A special note to my overseas buyers : Please do not ask me to falsify your customs forms. This is a service I cannot provide. Thanks in advance for your understanding.
Please bid with confidence. Check out my hard-earned feedbacks. Sincere thanks for looking & best of luck on all your future eBay adventures !! Satisfaction is always guaranteed.
