ITEM DETAILS
ARTIST - RICHARD DENTON & MARTIN COOK
TITLE - "HONG KONG BEAT & OTHER TV THEMES"
FORMAT - vinyl LP (album)
LABEL - BBC Records
CATALOGUE NUMBER - REH 385
YEAR - 1980
OTHER DETAILS - a very scarce 1980 UK white label TEST PRESSING UK 12-track LP on the BBC Records label.
Interestingly, if you hold the album up to a bright light (at a window or an electric light bulb or similar) you can see that the vinyl is a translucent, deep wine red colour - however, in 'normal' light it appears to be a regular black vinyl pressing!
*PLEASE NOTE* that I found it pretty much impossible to get a decent picture of the 'red' vinyl mentioned above (camera only showed it as a sort of purple, no matter how many times I tried), so have doctored the picture above a little and included it to give you a very rough idea - in reality, as already stated, it's more of a deep wine red or cranberry colour.
Artist Info.
Richard Denton (guitar, keyboards) and Martin Cook (guitar, keyboards) were both orchestra leaders who teamed up in the late 1970s to compose and produce theme and incidental music for BBC Television serials and documentaries, most notably for ‘The Theme From Hong Kong Beat’, a series examining the Hong Kong Police Force which, when aired in 1978, topped the ratings and pushed the programme’s theme into the UK singles chart. After this success they went on to produce themes for Diamonds In The Sky, Circuit Eleven - Miami and The Great Egg Race, and in 1980 a new electronic opening for the long-running science series Tomorrow’s World.
This rare album brings together for the first time all six singles previously released for BBC Records, together with the original B sides.

CONDITION
COVER - VG condition
- there are about 7/8 small lines/crinkles by the spine.
- shows the merest hint of storage outer rim record-shape impression.
- there is a little wear and a small bend in the bottom right corner.
- nothing major at all and otherwise fine.
- very nice and clean, appears to have hardly been played.
Please note that all vinyl is visually graded under a bright halogen bulb - it is only play-graded if specifically stated above. If there is a noticeable surface mark or light scratch, it may say 'not affecting play' above, in which case the record has obviously been played.

GRADING
NEW: Just that. Note that an item will only be factory sealed/shrinkwrapped if it says so in the description.
NEAR MINT: The record itself is in 'as new' condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are also in 'as new' condition. (please note that I will NEVER use the MINT grade, as I think you are asking for trouble! The highest grade I will use will be NM (Near Mint) as even a new record/CD can have a tiny fault if you look hard enough! If an item is NEW I will say so.)
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played a number of times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the maybe some occasional light scratches. If there is any surface noise it will be occasional, light and unobtrusive. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has obviously been played a lot and while it still plays through OK, it will have a lot of surface marks and/or light scratches (maybe also the occasional 'feelable' scratch) and most likely there there will be regular and noticeable surface noise. The cover and contents may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine and/or seam splits, discoloration, etc.
