Billie Holiday's 'Lady In Satin' was first released way back in 1958, and came as the legendary singer's second-to-last album before her lifetime discographic coda, 'Last Recording'. Arguably though, this is an album unafraid of death despite its final nature. Though mired in the blues and putting across Holiday's gritty, almost doomy voice in HD quality, the album carries with it a swank sophistication (thanks to its almost omnipresent string backing) that renders it timelessly graceful.
