HMV CLP 1032 – IDA HAENDEL – BRAHMS: VIOLIN CONCERTO
HMV mono recording catalogue number CLP 1032 issued on maroon/gold label. Brahms’s Violin Concerto played by Ida Haendel with Sergiu Celibidache conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
Disc is clean and shiny but, surprisingly, it does have audible faults. Side 1 has about 18/20 noticeable ticks; Side 2 has about 7/8 loud ticks. Both sides have a lot of very faint mostly non-intrusive background ticks. Professional cleaning might help but we cannot guarantee that. Although the disc is far from perfect it is still a hugely enjoyable recording. Sleeve has several splits and laminate lift on opening edge; sticky tape residue on top front and rear.
