Description
This lot is a super collectors quality copy of the 1958 1st pressing of the very rare stereo recording of the Beethoven Symphony No 7 in A played by the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Guido Cantelli with the original gold/cream label.
This is an interesting recording because whilst it was released in 1958 it was recorded much earlier. Cantelli was killed in a plane crash at Orly airport in Paris in December 1956. So must it must have been recorded beween 1953 and 1956. (1953 was when the major labels started recording in stereo) I believe that this is the only commercially released stereo record that Cantelli made.
The record and sleeve are in near mint condition. The vinyl has no scratches or visible marks and it plays with minimal surface noise. The sleeve is also in near mint condition with no creases tears or scuffs. The spine and edges are in excellent condition. The performance and sound quality are superb. There is very slight corner damage to the bottom right hand corner. This is a superb copy of a magnificent recording which would grace any serious collection. It comes with its original inner sleeve.
