Description
HMV ALP 1286/1287, GOLD AND RED LABELS. Beethoven - Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125 - Choral. Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Elisabeth Hongen, Hans Hopf, Otto Edelmann and the Orchestra and Chorus of the 1951 Bayreuth Festival, conducted by Wilhelm Furtwangler. Disc One has just one or two light surface marks but otherwise very clean and is graded EX; Disc Two has one light scratch near the end of Side Three but otherwise very clean and graded EX-. The sleeve on ALP 1286 has a tear across the front and a piece missing (see photo) but otherwise clean and graded G+; the sleeve on ALP 1287 is generally clean and intact with some laminate peeling at the opening edge and graded VG+. The all important discs are in very clean condition but, because of the sleeve defects stated above, I have set a low starting price for this rare set of records. It is still a very acceptable item.
