Description

Available here is a 12" vinyl LP by the Har-You Percussion Group. Issued in the US by ESP Disk in 1969, it’s a stereo 1st pressing in this form, with the catalogue number ORO-5.

This is an extremely rare and collectible record and decent copies of this version have been known to sell for in excess of £400. (This one is not the slightly earlier mid-60s original, of which superb copies have historically exceeded £1000!). As you will note, the cover for this version has suffered some sort of tragedy in the past, although the actual vinyl is unaffected. The start price accordingly reflects the condition of the outer cover (see full description below). Ideal if you have a mangled record but a decent sleeve?

Vinyl Condition - Very Good - The record is very bright and clean, with one or two light surface marks but no worrying scratches. Having listened to both sides, I can confirm that the overall sound is bright and clear. There is no jumping or sticking but the odd light click may be heard. There is very little crackle but there is an obvious background noise during quiter moments - a certain swoosh on revolutions if you will but not apparent when the band are in full swing.

Cover/Sleeve Condition - Poor - Original heavy card picture cover appears to have suffered water damage in the past and the bottom of the front and back is badly affected. There are degrees of loss and discolouration, while a previous owner has attempted to patch it up with tape and internal card strengthening. Inner sleeve is a later replacement and there is also an additional outer plastic sleeve.
