HARRY BELAFONTE * Live at Carnegie Hall *         "Belafonte At Carnegie Hall", von Kritikern als »die Quintessenz des Belafonte-Pakets« beschrieben, fängt die ganze Aufregung ein, die ein Konzert von Harry Belafonte auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Popularität erzeugte. Analogue Productions hat mit dieser Veröffentlichung einer Box von 5 LPs mit 45rpm andere Vinyl-Versionen übertroffen.
Das gesamte Konzert ist darin enthalten. Die fünfte Platte dieses Premium-Sets enthält Stücke, die aufgrund des begrenzten zur Verfügung stehenden Platzes auf früheren Editionen fehlten. Dazu gehört u.a. Belafontes gesprochene Einleitung zu dem anrührenden, zarten "Scarlet Ribbons", gefolgt von einer Orchester-Overtüre.
Was AllMusic.com als »den Urvater aller Live-Alben« beschreibt, schien eine Anomalie zu sein zu einer Zeit, in der nur kabarettistische Platten außerhalb von Studios aufgenommen wurden. Dieser Live-Auftritt war ein großer Erfolg sowohl in finanzieller wie auch in künstlerischer Hinsicht und blieb über drei Jahre auf den Bestseller-Listen; so lange RCA Schallplatten pressen ließ, blieb das Album in Produktion.
Wer diese wunderbare Platte noch nicht gehört hat, sollte nun nicht länger abwarten. Unser Haus hat weder Mühe noch Kosten gescheut für diese Luxusausgabe. Am Beginn stand das erstklassige Neumastering von den analogen Original-Bändern durch Ryan K. Smith von Sterling Sound. Durch das Strecken der Aufnahmen über 5 LPs erlauben die größeren Zwischenräume der Rille eine akkuratere Abtastung. Das Galvanisieren und Pressen übernahm Gary Salstrom mit seiner Mannschaft bei Quality Record Pressings, einer der besten LP-Pressen weltweit. Aber das ist noch nicht alles: Wir haben die originalen Studio-Fotos aufgearbeitet und die Kollektion in einer speziell angefertigten Box untergebracht.
Belafontes Meisterschaft vor Publikum kam nie besser zur Geltung als hier, was dazu führte, dass er zu einem der populärsten Publikumsmagneten der Geschichte wurde.Von der Trompetenfanfare zu Beginn bis zur epischen 12minütigen Version von "Matilda" (die zum Maßstab wurde für die Miteinbeziehung des Publikums) zeigt das Album keine einzige Schwachstelle!   Described by reviewers as »the quintessential Belafonte package«, "Belafonte At Carnegie Hall" captures the excitement of a Harry Belafonte concert at the height of his popularity. We've included the entire concert. The fifth disc in this premium set includes tracks heretofore missing from prior editions due to space limitations. They include Belafonte's spoken introduction before launching into the touching and tender "Scarlet Ribbons", followed by the orchestral overture.
What AllMusic.com describes as »The grandaddy of all live albums«, was an anomaly at a time when only comedy albums were recorded outside of the studio environment. A major financial and artistic success, the live performance stayed on the best-selling album charts for over three years and remained in print until RCA discontinued pressing LPs.

Belafonte's mastery in front of an audience was never better displayed than here, a mastery that resulted in him becoming one of the most popular concert draws in history.
