Blue Note 4080 SUPER RARE Rudy Van Gelder pressing!
We don't see records like this very often! You are looking at a Hank Mobley "Workout" vinyl LP that is in very nice shape considering it's age. We grade carefully. The record has been cleaned, and sounds FANTASTIC! The grading is as follows...
Cover: VG+, nice color, some corner rounding (see photos) and a small crease on the lower front right. NO seam splits! Only minor edgewear. Back has a few "age spots" but not the ring wear or staining we are used to seeing on records in this age-range.
Vinyl: It sounds wonderful, except for 1 skip at the beginning of the track "Workout". Very little if any surface noise. We test-played it on a Stanton, which is a common turntable. If you have something nicer than that, it's going to sound even BETTER! No popping that we heard on side 2, but every turntable is different. No skips after the cleaning. Side 1 skipped right at the beginning of the album at first. Another cleaning eliminated all but one skip, left some minor popping up to 1 minute into the first track, then beautiful! There are some light scratches and marks, but nothing that affects play.
The matrix number for this reads: BN-LP-4080 and the labels read: blue note records inc 47 West 63rd nyc - 331/3 microgroove
Inner sleeves: Original Blue Note sleeves. They are split. You have a great example of what they look like so you could upgrade if you have crisper, non-seamsplit versions to change out. That would increase the value on this specimen.
It's a rare album, and it sounds very nice. For what you are paying we know you will have high expectations. We have graded this fairly, and no doubt a SERIOUS collector will get much joy out of a copy this nice! Thank you!
