Fay Hallam is a UK Hammond organist and singer-songwriter who is a mod-soul mainstay in confident, expansive form on this new album. Opener 'Give Me Your Love' sets a warm, groove-driven tone that carries through the record's soulful core. 'Never Be Silenced' and 'Piece By Piece' show real songwriting range, while 'Speedfreak' brings some welcome grit into the mix. Hallam's organ work remains the record's beating heart throughout and is always rich, soulful and unmistakably her own. There's a lived-in authenticity here that comes from decades in the scene and means Zodiac feels like another career highlight.
