Rarely seen, first obscure album with supreme songcraft!!!!
Formed by Nicky Moore in 1969 Hackensack were considered one of the heaviest live bands of their day. They only released one album (on Polydor) during their lifetime. Over more than 270 gigs they built up a small but loyal following but weren't able to generate sufficient revenue to continue as a viable project. Their sound was a heavy blues/progrock mix and Up the Hard Way is highly regarded amongst collectors.
THIS LP IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE AND SERIOUSLY RARE!!!! THIS LP WAS ONLY PRESSED IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED. AS A RESULT TODAY IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AND IS ONE OF THE RAREST PROGRESSIVE LPS EVER!!!! IT VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE !!! THE PICTURES TELL ALL!!
This album is soooooooo extremely hard to get hold of!! This is only the second one I have ever seen!!! Reportedly only about 500 copies ever found their way to fans. On Polydor this must rank with the top 5 most collectable vinyls!!! It's anyone's guess as to how many have survived to the present day. The music is fantastic, hard to classify and shifts between heavy blues and heavy prog clearly influenced by the likes of e.g. Uriah Heep.
Haunting piece of PROG/PSYCH from the Golden Era!! This is a very elusive album and only the second ever copy I have come across. You will not often find this for sale if ever!! Splendid sound quality.
I have played this twice in FULL> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! There are not any jumps or skips. There is no background noise at all!! Only the slightest static noise in between the tracks. Very remarkable for this vinyl!!! I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!!
Vinyl: EX++ at least!!! There are two ultra wispy hairlines but the replay is outstanding. This is a heavy sturdy vinyl with high groovewalls!! This has been looked after and probably only ever had a couple of spins. Of course, NO skips, NO jumps and NO clicks. Even under a strong angled light this holds up without any hairlines. Totally clean sound without any disturbing background noise. TOP NOTCH AUDIO!!!
Sleeve: EX. The sleeve looks stunning!!! There is on tiny crease, NO writing, NO tears, NO defacing of whatever kind!!! Fantastic artwork!!! The edges are nice and straight. The opening is crisp and straight. The spine is fully legible. One small corner deletion clip.
This still has the original picture inner . Another veritable artefact rarely seen in EX+ condition.

This is a unique investment object that will only appreciate in value because of its absolute rarity. Don't be mistaken, this is a very rare variety of this record and I doubt it will turn up any time soon again. Most copies of this mighty scarce album have now been safely tucked away in major collection around the world!!
