Description
Guns N Roses Lies VINYL LP (1988) Original First US Pressing with the Uncensored Cover.
I did a full album complete PLAY TEST on a high end Technics SL-1200MK7 turntable. All turntables/needles (stylus) may sound/play differently but this should give you the most accurate idea of the audio quality.
The audio quality sounds amazing throughout both sides of the record. Track 1 on Side 2 has the tiniest bit of "crackling"/surface noise during a couple of the quieter/soft parts, but it is not significant and doesn't last more than a second or two. May not even be worth mentioning but I try my best to be as thorough as possible. Overall, the audio quality is excellent.
The vinyl record has minimal surface marks/hairlines. There are no deep scratches or anything that affects playback. The sound quality is excellent. The labels are clean with very minimal signs of any wear. The record has only been played maybe 3 or 4 times. The following are the identifiers on the vinyl proving that it is the first pressing:
- Matrix / Runout (Etched, Runout Side A, variant 2): GHS-24198-A-SRI-DMM 1-1 STERLING
- Matrix / Runout (Etched, Runout Side B, variant 2): GHS-24198-B-SRI-DMM 1-1 STERLING
The insert/inner sleeve is in excellent condition. It has the tiniest little corner dings in the upper left and right corners. Barely noticeable. There are no seam splits or ring wear on the inner sleeve. The US first edition inner sleeve was censored with a black bar across the nude woman - see photo. The vinyl will be shipped inside of a new generic white inner sleeve to prevent any damage during shipping to the original insert/inner sleeve.
The jacket has some light signs of wear. There are some light creases along the top and left side seams. The corners are all shown in the photos. Overall the jacket is still very presentable with no major damage. Check out the video and all of the photos. It should give you a pretty good idea of the overall condition of the jacket. This is the first pressing uncensored version. This version's cover reads "Wife-beating has been around for 10,000 years" (later replaced by "LIES! LIES! LIES!") in the lower left hand side, and on the right side in the middle it reads "Ladies, welcome to the dark ages" (later replaced by "Elephant gives birth to midget".) The record will be shipped outside of the jacket to prevent any damage to the jacket during shipping.
Check out my other items. I have many rare or original first issue 80’s, 90's and 2000's records for sale.
*Most sellers either give a very general visual grading or a vague description. I do my best to be as thorough as possible and describe things in great detail. I am extremely picky and I realize sometimes this makes things sound worse than they actually are, but I believe that a buyer should not be disappointed when they receive a used album. They should have an appropriate expectation and deserve as much detail as possible before making a decision. Please contact me with and questions that you may have prior to purchase.*
