Guided By Voices - Forever Since Breakfast  (1986/Needmore) Still sealed.

This is the disc that introduced Bob and cohorts to the world - a small part of it anyway. Bob said they went to a studio in Kentucky - they had good rates - but he was ultimately dissatisfied with the disc as it was too clean and pristine compared to the sound he was looking for - over-produced, as he said at the time. Listening to this lp presents a stark contrast with their first full-length lp, Devil Between My Toes. The difference between the sonic accuracy of this disc when compared to the immediacy presented in the later sonicly inferior yet emotionally superior 8-track garage recordings is akin to the rush from the morning's first light as compared to the noon-day sun - a great introduction, yet it is merely the initial light leading to being bathed in the full warmth that is coming (ok, maybe an odd simile into a obscure metaphor, but if one listens closely to GBV's lps, then one KNOWS exactly what I meant). A must-have for all GBV heads.
