     <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

 Hardly ever turns up 1972 GREEN BRAIN original ...the legendary British group got swept in with the kingpin Krautrock label of the day, sounding in the same vein as the great progressive bands on the label ...the 19th release on green BRAIN...

      <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

1972's “Space Shanty” is a distillation of the many styles of the Canterbury musos — the cosmic-hippy humor, the fascinating and busy arrangements — but it remains completely fresh and exciting...brought to you by ex-Archael meets ex-EGG, meets ex-Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come...

RARE and highy sought 1972 original German vinyl first pressing on the highly collected green BRAIN label ... nice laminated gatefold pressing

...formed out of the ashes of the mighty ARZACHEL, leader, guitarist Steve Hillage assembled a tight unit of adventurous musicians dubbing them KHAN ...thei only album, SPACE SHANTY delivers sophisticated underground prog-psych passages in long stretched-out interplays of awirling organ and soaring distorted guitar glories...

The music has a real sense of scale and joy, and the guys are clearly enjoying themselves and their instruments. The recording is warm and straightforward with panning and flanging done to good effect. The Canterbury crowd were quite innovative, particularly with combining effects pedals with keyboards, so by this time weren’t relying too much on studio trickery and tape manipulation.

“Mixed Up Man Of The Mountains” starts with a fairly straightforward rock beat played at a stride. “Looking at the ground, I’m crying for the sky. I know I can’t hope to go where I can’t be found. But when I close my eyes I start to fly.” And fly they do — just listen and wait for them to break into some of the best Canterbury prog jamming you’ll ever hear, soaring electric Hillage guitar leads, wow! “Driving to Amsterdam” features some particularly fiery keyboard work by ex-'EGG' leader, Dave Stewart and his prepared keyboards.

  • Steve Hillage, guitars, vocals;
  • Nick Greenwood, bass guitar, vocals;
  • Eric Peachy, drums;
  • Dave Stewart, organ, piano, skyceleste, marimbas

CONDITION: The gatefold cover is still with vibrant sharp colors and laminated, and still very stiff/crisp ...only having a liitle very light shelf wear starting, not anything to be alarmed, it's not mint, but right up close = "EX" (excellent) all solid seams, no bends and no writing...very collectible, desireable...

The vinyl is all glossy clean and clear save for a couple or so insignificant minor small light hairline scuffs that do nothing...visually not mint but right near at: "EX" (excellent) ...theer is a small thin pen mark on one label, very minor but found inspecting real closely...otherwise the shiny luster is still on both sides of the grooves, playing outstanding =  TOP levels...

       A cool addition to anyone's music library!
