Background

Over the next 12-18 months I’ll be selling off a massive collection of records (5000+) from a shop which shut it’s doors in the early 1980s.  The collection covers a period from the late 1960s through to the time of the shop’s closure (with odd bits of a slightly earlier date) and includes large quantities of 60s/70s rock, progressive, R & B, soul and modern classical music.  Most of the items are unplayed (or at most sustained a single play) unless otherwise noted.  You don’t get many opportunities to purchase unplayed 70s shop stock anymore!  This short paragraph of background information will be included whenever an item has been sourced from this collection.

UNSOLD SHOP STOCK Super RARE 1970 DERAM RED STEREO pressing of Granny’s Intentions ‘Honest Injun’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: DERAM SML 1060).  I believe this is the only L.P. issued by this Irish band and although he isn’t listed as a band member at this time (only thanked on the sleeve) as far as I’m aware this album features the talents of Gary Moore.  If you want an idea of what this gem sounds like type the opening track ‘Maybe’ into YouTube.  So many of the other ‘rare’ DERAM albums seem to turn-up more regularly than this baby.  This comes from UNSOLD STOCK and has never seen heavy play.  The vinyl is an easy EXCELLENT+ condition and I’d guess might have been played once or twice.  Under an intense light some hairline scratches are visible but these are typical for DECCA pressings and largely result from withdrawal of the record from the poly-lined inner.  The sleeve is also graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition (more condition details below).

Condition

L.P. Cover

The cover is graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition.  The laminate still retains a relatively fresh appearance and has clearly not been handled much.  Further evidence of this come from the fact that the largely black print on the rear of the sleeve has not rubbed away whatsoever.  The only flaws I note are some light bending to the top of the sleeve.  On the front of the sleeve in the top left-hand corner this has manifested itself as some light creasing in the laminate and on the rear of the sleeve in the left-hand corner there is a light bend in the cardboard (consider that only the front of the sleeve is laminated).  Looking at the front of the sleeve the bottom and top right-hand corners have received very light knocks.  Lastly there is a light ‘dig’ in the top of the sleeve which isn’t particularly visible unless you look sideways on.  These points are all very minor and in reality you aren’t going to see a superior copy!

Vinyl

The vinyl is also graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition.  It is stored in the correct, period, blue DERAM inner sleeve.  I’d guess this has been played once and the only marks are those visible under an intense light (i.e. there are no marks of substance).  There are limited ‘groups’ of hairline scratches that are a result of withdrawal of the record from the poly-lined inner (typical of these DECCA pressings) however, the bulk of the playing surface is completely spotless.  A truly beautiful copy and not the sort that turns up in record shops these days!

Concluding Remarks

This is a very RARE psych/progressive album and not a common DERAM album.  This is only going to increase in value and you are simply not going to locate a superior copy!  Please check my other auctions for further items in similarly immaculate condition from the same source.  Save me as a Favourite Seller as there is plenty more good stuff where this came from!

General Terms etc.

I endeavour to be accurate with all my grading and only offer for sale the best quality items.  All items are graded under an intense light.  I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years and would describe myself as being conservative but fair (I think my feedback speaks for itself in this respect)!  If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then contact me.

Payment is possible via PayPal and Personal Cheque.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.  Multiple purchases will be subject to reduced postage costs.  Please contact me at the end of the auction(s) to confirm these costs.  Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss postage options in advance of the auction’s end.

Overseas buyers are welcome.  You don’t need to email me.  So long as you can pay me efficiently (i.e. PayPal) and I can get the item to you then that is good enough for me.  However, if you want me to investigate postage costs in advance of the auction’s end then (again) let me know!
