Description
Monaural original Blue Note LP from trombone great Grachan Moncur III “Evolution” (Blue Note BLP 4153, New York USA Address, Van Gelder in dead wax). The LP is still in the original shrink-wrap.
The rest of the musicians are an all-star cast of: Lee Morgan (trumpet), Jackie McLean (alto sax), Bobby Hutcherson (vibes), Bob Crenshaw (bass) and Anthony (Tony) Williams.
The tracklist (all Moncur originals) is: Air Raid/Evolution/The Coaster/Monk In Wonderland.
The LP retains most of the original gloss and plays crisp and clear. I was pleasantly surprised that a few scuffs and scratches turned out to be superficial and the LP plays through with just some light occasional surface noise noticeable really only for the first two revolutions on side one. The labels show some spindle marks and has a name written on them. All in all this is another one of those magnificent Blue Notes that plays far better than it looks. The still in shrink-wrap cover has no splits, tears or cutouts. There is a date written near the cover opening under the shrink-wrap and a small bit of discoloration on the lower back corner near the cover opening.
