Vinyl grading is given on the visual condition of the record after cleaning unless otherwise stated.  Records will sometimes be played and aural information provided in the description in such cases.  Lovin' Vinyl does not seek to sell items that are known to jump or skip or that have noticeable faults.  Descriptions will note as accurately as possible the condition of the LP(s).  Please bear in mind that many LPs are very old and have invariably been pre-owned and that minor imperfections are not always visible. 

Sleeve and box grading will take account of tears, creases, foxing, sticker removal damage and writing on sleeves and labels.  These will be noted in the description.

Basic grading for vinyl and sleeves/boxes is as follows:-

M - Mint condition: The record itself is in as new condition with no surface marks. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet or booklet are in perfect condition.

NM - Near mint condition: The record appears almost perfect, but there may be slight signs of marking that will have no effect on the quality of playback. The label may have light spindle marks.

EX - Excellent condition: The record shows slight marks and some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality on playback. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VG - Very good condition: The record has obviously been played a number of times, but there is no significant deterioration in sound quality, despite some surface marks. Usual wear and tear on the cover or inserts, but no major defects.

G - Good condition: The record has some surface marks and maybe the occasional light scratch. The record has obviously been played many times; the marks may have some effect on playback.

F - Fair condition: The record is acceptable but has some marks/scratches and has obviously been played many times. The condition will affect playback. Cover and inserts may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.  Records in fair condition will generally not be sold unless a rarity that may be of interest to a collector.

P - Poor condition: Records in less than fair condition will not be sold, but this grading may apply to a record sleeve or box, within which the vinyl is in good or better condtion.

All records are sent in strong cardboard record mailers or boxed-set cruciform mailers with stiffeners. Records are placed in new poly-lined inner sleeves after cleaning, but original inners will be sent as well, unless very poor quality or in particularly poor condition. Records are removed from outer sleeves for posting to prevent seam splits.

All records are cleaned ultrasonically before sale with the GLÄSS Audio Desk Systeme record cleaner, which gives exceptional results, removing many clicks and pops caused by dirt and particles from vinyl in reasonable condition.
