George Jones - Grand Ole Opry’s New Star • Starday script logo on the label indicates that this is a 1956 first pressing. An extremely rare record, nearly impossible to find and a genuine piece of history: Grand Ole Opry's New Star is the debut studio album released by George Jones in November 1956 with Starday Records. Produced by Jones' manager Pappy Daily, the album was recorded during early sessions in 1954, throughout 1955, and other sessions in 1956. It is also the FIRST album to be released on the Starday label.

The cover shows the catalog number as LP-101 and the record label shows the Album title as "George Jones Sings".

Vinyl is in (P) poor condition (Goldmine Grade) with lots of wear and some deep scratches on both sides. (See Photos). Side A plays through with considerable surface noise and no skipping on tracks A1, A2, A4, A5, A6 & A7. Track A3 (It’s OK) skips several times. Side Two: Skips on B1 (You Gotta Be My Baby), B2 (What Am I Worth). The George Jones classic “Ragged But Right” has some surface noise but plays VG with no skips. “Yearning” a duet with Jeanette Hicks plays through with no skips. B6 (Still Hurtin’) skips and the needle gets stuck. B7 (Taggin’ Along) plays without skips and similar noise.

Cover is in VG (Very Good) condition. Some discoloration from age, and wear on the edges, but no seam splits. (See Photos).

Even through the surface noise, there’s a real beauty to the sound of this fantastic collectible.
