GENESIS - WATCHER OF THE SKIES b/w WILLOW FARM  ORIGINAL 1972  GERMAN CHARISMA 45 6073 331 W/ UNIQUE PICTURE      SLEEVE. 

THIS 1972 RELEASE  CERTAINLY RANKS AMONGST  THE HANDFUL OF RAREST WORLDWIDE GENESIS PICTURE SLEEVE 45 RELEASES.  IT MOST LIKELY WAS ONLY EVER PRODUCED IN A RUN OF SEVERAL HUNDRED COPIES, FEW OF WHICH EVIDENTLY SOLD, AND IT  DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE CHARTED. IT WASN'T UNTIL THE BAND'S POPULARITY EXPLODED WITH THE "SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND" LP  THE FOLLOWING YEAR THAT THEIR CAREER TOOK OFF . BY THAT TIME THIS ORIGINAL VINYL PRESSING OF THE BANDS 2ND GERMAN 45  HAD PRETTY MUCH DISAPPEARED, AND HAS BEEN EXTREMELY SCARCE FOR ALMOST 40 YEARS.

The front of the sleeve is minimally VG++, if not better, with only a bit tiny bit of crinkling around the bottom right corner perimeter, and the most minor slight impression around the perimeter of where the disc once was in the sleeve. Other than these miniscule faults the sleeve  is quite clean & unmarked.   The back is in similar condition, clean & clear.  The exterior of the sleeve is much cleaner than the scan makes it appear, viewed in person it really is in excellent condition, especially when one considers the extremely fragile & delicate nature of the paper the design is printed on. That's simply the nature of the scanner.

The vinyl is a very good candidate for a grading of  VG+,  I suspect some would  grade it closer to VG++.  Some light wispy hairlines can be seen when viewed directly under a bright light, in indirect light  or sunlight the disc would certainly grade VG+ or better.  The vinyl is  bright & glossy.  There are NO SCRATCHES of any kind, it is a very nice condition vinyl, clean & unmarked.

The exotic CHARISMA labels are bright, clean & unmarked.  Just as they were when they left the pressing plant close to   40  years ago.  See the photo's for evidence of this. 

This is a very acceptable condition copy of an extremely rare GENESIS picture sleeve 45 , who's to say when or if a cleaner copy may  turn up?
