Up for auction, quite possibly the rarest Genesis LP ever pressed. The band's label, Charisma, had a pressing/distribution deal in the United States with Buddah Records, which lasted through GENESIS LIVE in 1973. After that, Charisma Founder Tony Stratton-Smith inked a US distribution deal with Atlantic/Atco. SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND was the first Genesis album to be pressed/marketed/distributed in the US by Atlantic (which very much helped expand the band's audience in the US beyond the underground/college-rock market), under catalog number FC 6060. However, tapes had already been sent to Buddah for mastering before the street date and a tiny quantity was pressed, with the name Genesis misspelled 'GENSIS' and a unique Buddah catalog number: SW-95618 before word was sent to Buddah to stop manufacturing. These were sent to Atlantic to jacket along with the vastly larger first US pressing of the record mastered and manufactured by Atlantic for the US SEBTP street date of October 12, 1973.
