Delays in shipments to the U.S. packages due to stricter checks
Following an incident involving an improvised explosive device on a flight to the U.S., all packets sent to that country will be reviewed by the U.S. authorities more strictly than before. As a result, could cause delays in shipments that do buyers located in U.S.

Shipping Delays to USA 2011

For the last couple of months, parcels being sent to the USA have been on average taking longer to arrive than normal, at times exceeding the 21 working days we say to allow. All parcels are arriving but later than expected. In the past sent to the USA normally arrived within 7-14 working days.

The delays are been caused by all parcels to North America now going by cargo plane (following the bomb disguised as an inkjet cartridge)  which has led to a unprecedented backlog and delay. This delay has been compounded by (allegedly) Royal Mail sending airmail shipments to USA by surface mail. We have been advised to allow shipments to USA a minimum of 40 working days to arrive at their destination (even when shipping by airmail).
