You probably already know that the Guinness Record label from new York City was only around for one year (in 1977), and that it was known as a “tax write-off” label. Even the most popular albums on the Guinness label had far fewer copies pressed than most other small record labels from this time period; as a result they are now highly sought after.
This particular album by B.J. Hood is one of the more rare records on the Guinness Label. This is an absolute original pressing from 1977- NOT a re-issue. Until we opened it to spin it, this record was sealed. We played it all the way through one time so we could hear it to determine the music genre, then played a few seconds of it a second time to record the sound clips. It overall has a seventies Pop Rock feel, with all original but diverse material written by B.J. Hood. Some of the songs have strings, and one song (NO THANK YOU) even has some Fuzz Guitar!
We have recorded four different sound clips below so you can listen:
The cover still has the shrink wrap on it. The corners have tiny, and I mean tiny dings. There is one very light crease in the top left corner, but it originates on the back of the jacket and is just about unnoticeable on the front (and hard to notice on the back). The record is in the same condition as when we opened it, which under a lamp shows a few surface marks (likely mostly paper sleeve scuffing) and a handful of various light surface scuffs. The record has a small amount of warping from the label to the edges. It is not really a “warp” but more a little higher in places than others (not exactly flat). This in no way affects play.
All LPs come packaged carefully in a sturdy corrugated box made specifically for mailing LPs plus a cardboard insert. The covers are placed in clear plastic record sleeves. The vinyl is removed from the cover (except for SEALED items) for shipping to prevent seam splitting during shipment.
