Description
VERY RARE vinyl copy of original GUIDED BY VOICES LP, "Self-Inflicted Aerial Nostalgia" on HALO RECORDS. Only 500 copies originally produced! Original copy, very nice!
Contains 14 tracks, 1989 (Needmore Songs), production of GOTHAM CITY MUSIC.
I bought this about 10 years ago and have had in a quality plastic sleeve. I don't believe these came sealed.
I don't typically sell many albums but I will give my most honest assessment of the condition from years of collecting albums.
COVER: This is a glossy cover, wasn't the highest quality to begin with, as this was a very independent pressing (only 500, black vinyl) back in 1989. However, I would rate this cover as GOOD +, considering its age. The front has some shelf wear, typically around the edges, but not offensive to any degree, better than what you'd find in the used bins at a record shop for sure. There is minor residue in the upper right corner (below the HALO 2 print) from where the original price sticker was, but again, it is relatively minor. The yellow printed paper used for the cover was obviously glued to the brown cardboard, typical in many smaller independent pressings, and there are a couple very minor, what I would call ripples. You can almost press them out with your fingers. I think it is just the process that was used and the age. Not all that noticeable unless you are inspecting the cover from relatively close up. Was like that when I bought it, didn't bother me, I knew it was a relatively homemade project at the time.
The back contains a white cover over the yellow, it is not glossy and is black and white, the way it was produced. Again, it has a few minor ripples but is in very nice condition, relatively minor shelf wear.
THE RECORD: The record looks astonishing like new. It is very black and shiny on both sides, I doubt if it was ever really played. I cleaned it on my professional VPI record cleaning machine and sampled most of the tracks, and they sound very good. Understand this is a low fi production to begin with. I further inspected the record under bright light and this is as close to new as you can get. Other than three very, very minor dimples (that have no affect on the sound whatsoever), I would rate in at MINT -. You certainly won't be disappointed.
