Description
Welcome! Here is a first UK mono press of Groundhogs Scratching the Surface (Liberty LBL 83199). This was the first Groundhogs album, and has the coveted two-tone blue Liberty label. And, it is in great condition!
Matrix numbers and mother/stamper codes are:
Side 1: LBL 83199 A//1 ? 420 11 9.
Side 2: LBL 83199 B//1 ? 420 11 1.
Using the Record Collector grading system, what do we have here?
Sleeve: The fully laminated single sleeve grades Excellent. The sleeve is signed “Printed by MacNeill Press Ltd., London.” There are typical laminate creases, and said laminate is beginning to lift along the spine on both the front and the back. But, wow, the laminate has a beautiful sheen! This is certainly much richer than the dull, unlaminated USA issue. Note that the light area at the top of the front is simply glare from my camera's flash reflecting off the laminated surface.
Vinyl: The vinyl grades Excellent, with only the occasional pop or crackle. A few light surface marks do not impact play.
Note again that this is a mono pressing. This early, earthy British blues stuff sounds GREAT in mono, IMHO!
Labels: Oooo, love those blue Liberty labels! Both labels are strong, with only very minor spindle tracking, much less than usual.
Inner Sleeve: This album has an early UK plastic-lined plain white inner sleeve, with an 0270 date code. As this album was released in 1968, and Liberty having changed to the black label by 1970, this is likely not the original inner, but it is certainly of the same approximate vintage. The inner has only one minor seam split; it is very clean and overall in very fine condition.>
And, in the end: Classic British blues from a group that eventually went in a hard rock direction. You will be pleased! Please e-mail me with any questions.
Returns: Full return privileges (less shipping and listing fee) if dissatisfied, but I bet you won’t be! Please pay by PayPal. Thanks and good luck!
About Me: I am not a dealer, but a longtime collector in the occasional process of dispersing my collection of English and German prog, rock, and blues albums. I have three other albums listed this week; check ‘em out!Shipping: I will ship to ANY country on Earth! Pursuant to my statement above that I am not a dealer, I do NOT gouge anyone on shipping costs. If you are in the USA, figure on $4.00 for good ‘ol Media Mail; of course, you can do Priority, Overnight, you name it. In those situation, as well as if you live outside of the USA, I will take your item(s), with the packaging, to the post office and I will obtain multiple shipping quotes for you (fast, slow, whatever).
Insurance: I will also get an insurance quote for you. I pack things very well, but if you choose to not buy insurance, I will not be responsible if something nasty happens.
Namaste, everyone!
