GREEN DAY - WARNING - LP
I am thinning out some of the duplicates from my record collection...this one is a sealed copy of Warning by Green Day. Only 1500 copies were pressed on limited edition lime green color vinyl. Includes lyric sheet insert. A special edition released by Billie Joe Armstrong's own label, Adeline Records.
Even though American Idiot won all the awards and made the band superstars all over again, Warning was really Green Day's "maturing" album. Hit singles "Minority" and "Warning" were every bit as anti-establishment as anything on American Idiot. "Waiting" foreshadowed the band's arena/pop/punk sound for the new century, with solid album track "Misery" showcasing the trio's ability to slow the tempo while maintaining tension, also implementing instruments and storytelling that had not been typical of the group previously. Overlooked at the time, Warning's acoustic instruments drowned out by de-tuned nü-metal that dominated the airwaves, Green Day's snotty punk crowd distracted by second- and third-generation usurpers that divided the audience share...but neither seemed too far removed from the boy bands of the day. Hindsight now reaches for Warning over copies of albums by Limp Bizkit or N-Sync that sold way more copies than Green Day that year. Oh, 2000...you sure did Y2KO us, didn't you?
