So, up for auction is a very hard to find rare original Greek - ONLY vinyl pressing of the Greeks and Evi Milopoulou’s Play Greek Songs The Modern Way 4-track 45 rpm 7-inch Extended Play that was released in 1966 with a Music Box label, Cat No EMB 1413 and Matrix Nos EMBG 149 [A side] and EMBG 150 [B side, both machine -stamped]. Housed in a very rare too unique and specially designed original flipback single color picture sleeve, it featured the following songs

all four tracks covers of already well known Greek songs of Giorgos Mitsakis [’63], Athanassios Sophos / Giorgos Roussos [‘61], Iakovos Kampanellis / Mikis Theodorakis [‘63 ,known also as the Theme From Zorba The Greek]and Yiannis Ioannidis / Manos Hadjidakis [’59, known also as All Alone Am I] respectively!

Not to be confused with the other Greeks  - a garage band that hailed from Thessaloniki, up on the northern side of Greece, and released few singles ONLY on BENTETTA label during 1967 - this jazz-tuned quartet with a … bouzouki as the leading instrument formed in Athens, Greece by arranger and conductor Themis Roussos and, during the mid-60s, not only backed the already popular female vocalist of Greek light repertoire Evi Milopoulou in famous Athens clubs but recorded one and only very rare(*) lp too -“The Greeks Play Greek Songs the Modern Way”, Music-Box X 33 MB 306 - in 1966 that contained 12 tracks - between them the 4 songs above that were compiled for the release of this very 4-track EP the very same year with exactly the very same title!

(*) One of the very first albums ever pressed in Greece, its rarity - as the EP’s too - is due to the fact that all the copies for sale in record shops were confiscated and destroyed because both included songs written by the banned, by the military regime of 1967-74, composer Mikis Theodorakis!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Greek singles were originally pressed in very small quantities and then deleted forever. Most of these singles have disappeared or been damaged through time, making the Greek singles incredibly rare and very hard to find!

Deleted upon release, unavailable for more than half a century, RARELY SEEN on eBay in ANY condition and, to my knowledge, the only one that exists with its specially designed original flip back picture sleeve as I can't seem to find a picture of it online, this must have item for every devoted fan of Greek Music from the 60s does not get offered up too often. Grading: I use the GOLDMINE standards for grading STRICTLY & CONSERVATIVELY  the condition of the items listed.The grading is mostly visual, though, when in doubt, I d? “spot check” each of the songs play-graded on a Technics SL-1200MK2 with a, weight of 1.5 gram, Stanton 681 EEE MK III! As for the covers, please, look at the photos to evaluate yourself - with grading being a subjective matter, pictures are an objective way to evaluate for yourself!
