What else needs to be said? This is one of the pivotal albums in the history of the West Coast and Psychedelic 1960's. Although technically recorded in 1972, this is a prime-time slab of vintage psychedelia, replete with 'magma' light show and related sound- and visual effects. The triple album - unavailable in its original vinyl form for decades - is one of the critical pieces in understanding the role Billy Grahan and Fillmore East played in the development of the contemporary American music. The set includes the cream of the crop of the great American Bands, unleashing their rapid fire in the soon-to-be-closed Fillmore auditorium. Miss it now, and weep later. (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new (note: side 5  [with Hot Tuna and Santana] is a little inferior to the remaining five sides and is separately graded as VG++.

(b)          The album comes with ALL original extras (the booklet; the poster; the bonus 45 rpm EP and the concert ticket (which is the only replica in this set)

(c)             The records come in a poly-lined inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the vinyl from the harmful impact of elements over many years! The bonus 45 disc comes in its unique, custom inner sleeve.

(d)          The records are pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE BOX IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Two corners on the lid (top part) on the spine are split (separated); These two corners were delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape (the repair is almost invisible)

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the bottom seam (nothing significant)

-         The cover has a minor scratch mark on the back side   (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
