Description

For sale is NORMAN GRANZ' "Jazz At The Philharmonic, 3LP BOX,  MG Vol. 17, MONO, DG, 1954. With complete 12-photo folio set. With Buddy DeFranco, Oscar Peterson, Flip Phillips, Louis Bellson, Buddy Rich, Herb Ellis, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Brown, Ben Webster, Roy Eldridge, Lionel Hampton, Bill Harris.
SOUND: NM It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to all sides completely. The sound is simply brilliant! All six sides are clean, clear, and powerful! The only thing that kept me from grading "mint" is the presence of a brief, tiny bit of crackle on side 2 during one of the ballad numbers. Honestly, the only reason I even mention it is, the rest of the entire playback is so remarkably beautiful!
VINYL: NM All three records are just beautiful! Brilliantly clean, lustrous, no scuffs, marks, not even a smudge! The deep-grooved Clef "trumpeter" labels are all gorgeous! No question these records are solid NM!
JACKET: VG+/NM The box is in great shape, solid and firm all-around. Clean front cover and inner liner notes. Only a touch of yellowing keep it from solid NM. The folio of 12 matte-finish photos are in beautiful condition, the only flaw being a bend on the lower left corner of Buddy DeFranco.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
Hard to imagine this 67-year-old box set in better condition, or playing better!
Buy-it-now for $100.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
