***SUPERLATIVE MASTERPIECE ***
A RARE PROGRESSIVE ROCK MONSTER ALBUM 43 YEARS OLD LIKE THIS!
HANDFUL OF PLAYS FROM NEW - NEAR MINT AUDIO THROUGH OUT
(RARE TO FIND ORIGINAL UK PRESS) LOOKS BARELY PLAYED CONDITION! ! TOP TOP AUDIO!
Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new and barely ever played, perhapes only two or three times if that! (so rare to ever find like this, over 43 years old) This has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover, this is how I have always stored my records! I have decided to list this awesome killer Rock live album due to the fact that it is so rare to find original UK pressings of this album especially in this condition (most seen are later press or US pressings) This is not just rare UK press but one of the earliest look -1 matrix on all four sides and ''1'' to ''1'' mother stampers on all four sides!. This is complete with the original Garrod & Lofthouse gate fold cover in at least excellent condition throughout and the original Capitol advertizing serpier record sleeves again without splits or tares. Both vinyls are in barely played condition! I must stress that with this album, ! These vinyls audio is truly (truly) exceptional throughout!. A true joy to listen to! This is exceptional and is highly collectable in this condition! This looks and plays awesome throughout! The audio separation is outstanding a real deep bassey feel! quite rare to find! Visual inspection of the vinyls review a mark on side one last track but this has little if no effect on the audio quality that I could hear at least I heard no clicks or pops through out the play of this album. The vinyls shows signs of very little play only and the audio would grade at least excellent plus/ near mint through out! The rest plays through as new in my opinion. Audio graded at least excellent plus to near mint!
A rare album to ever find like this!
Live Album is the first live album by American hard rock band Grand Funk Railroad, originally released by Capitol Records on November 16, 1970 The first single released from the album, "Mean Mistreater", was released on November 23 and the second, "Inside Lookin' Out" was released in January 1971. The album was originally released as a double album on the LP format. Subsequent reissues of the album on the Compact Disc format have been both double and single disc sets.
"Introduction" and "Words of Wisdom" are spoken-word tracks featuring Mark Farner's stage banter with the audience; consequently, original pressings of Live Album did not list author credits for these tracks. All other tracks are by Mark Farner, except where noted.

The band was formed in 1969 by Mark Farner and Don Brewer from Terry Knight and the Pack and Mel Schacher from Question Mark & the Mysterians; Knight soon became the band's manager.
Knight named the band after the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a well-known rail line in Michigan. First achieving recognition at the 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival, the band was signed by Capitol Records in the US. After a raucous, well-received set on the first day of the festival, the group was asked back to play two additional days.
Patterned after hard rock power trios such as Cream, the band, with Terry Knight's marketing savvy, developed its own popular style. In 1969, the band released its first album titled On Time, which sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold record in 1970. In the same year, a second album, Grand Funk (aka "The Red Album"), was awarded gold status. The hit single "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)", from the album Closer to Home, also released in 1970, was considered stylistically representative of Terry Knight and the Pack's recordings. The band spent $100,000 on a New York Times Square billboard to advertise Closer to Home.
In 1970, they sold more albums than any other American band and became a major concert attraction. By 1971, Grand Funk broke The Beatles' Shea Stadium attendance record by selling out in just 72 hours. Despite critical pans and a lack of airplay, the group's first six albums (five studio releases and one live album) were quite successful. In 1970, Knight launched an intensive advertising campaign to promote the album Closer To Home. That album was certified multi-platinum despite a lack of critical approval. Following Closer To Home, Live Album was also released in 1970, and was another gold disc recipient.

The Vinyls
On initial inspection these look superb, original glossy sheen from new still retained beautiful looking vinyls! Initially I can hardly see a blemish at all except on side one if looked at in strong light I notice a scuff mark but fortunately this has little if no effect on the awesome audio quality that I could hear., In strong light only any other marks that could possibly be seen would be mainly sleeve removal only at least nothing that would cause any loud clicks or pops!
The Audio
I have played this through track for track on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is awesome Top sounding on all frequencies! Super Super seperation! Cristal clear and vibrant with (no) signs of distortion or that this has been overplayed at all Please note! Quite amaizingly I never heard any major interfearance at all (no) distortion (no) major background static crackle this is quite exceptional indeed! THIS IS EXCEPTIONAL AUDIO! Must be at least Excellent plus to near Mint audio quality as I heard it!
Please note! It is easy to be critical about these 70s pressings especially the fact that there are so many many quiet tracks!,, Please allow for some light static /ticks (not) consistant throughout the audio! ,Although I never heard any problems ,Please remember that these are 40 year old vinyls that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system! Near mint audio on my systems.
A constant clean is recomended before each play. This vinyl has been stored in a case for at least 30 years or more laying dormant! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks and constant cleaning reduces this!!
The labels
These feature the original Capitol labels featured on the labels in superbe condition! Amaizingly I find it difficult to see no more than one or two feint spider marks on each side even when angled in strong light.(This has barely ever been played no more than two or three times of times if that. unbeleivable to find) This certainly has not been overplayed in my opinion! Little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round!
The Gate fold Cover
This is the original 1st issue unlaminated Garrod & Lofthouse gate fold cover! Being primarily black in colour these are very difficult to keep in good condition especially after 43 years! This is in awesome condition concidering its age (rarely seen like this! (AMAIZINGLY No real nasty creases at all to talk of (no) nasty marks , or tares!! UNBELEIVABLE CONDITION SUPERBE SPINE! ! Any storage ware/ring ware or rubbing at the edges you would have to look for to notice any. very slight vinyl impression only noticed if looked for. must be at least Excellent in my opinion. Try to find better after 40 years!
The record sleeves are the original Capitol advertising serpier sleeves no splits or tares just slight creasing with age only. The originals.
