Title:   “The Martini Set”

Label:   (Sam C.) PHILLIPS INTERNATIONAL (Memphis, Tenn.).  Monaural pressing on heavy vinyl.  Label is light blue with red text, with deep groove.  Catalog number is LP- 1955.

Year:  1960. 

About Graham Forbes:  Forbes’ music is described in the liner notes as “…the kind of music popularized by Teddy Wilson and his musical descendents in the intime little lounges and piano bars in the large and small cities coast to coast.”  His credits include stints with Buddy Berigan, Charlie Barnet, and gigs at the Stork Club and the Copacabana in New York City.  Subsequently, he accompanied Martin & Lewis on their coast-to-coast tour, and served as accompanist for Lisa Kirk, Gertrude Niesen, Vic Damone, Hildegarde, Julie Wilson, among others.  For two years, he was accompanist for Frank Sinatra, and at the time of this LP’s release, was with Roy Hamilton.          

Condition: 

DISC:  NEAR MINT with 100% of original gloss, immaculate.  Appears to have been played one or two times at most, and handled with care.  Labels are clean and pristine.  Fidelity is excellent.  A gorgeous disc you will never need to upgrade.

JACKET:   Jacket is NEAR MINT- with nice bright artwork.   Seams, spine, and surfaces are excellent.  Tiny flake at top left corner tip.  Reverse is clean and white with no writing, stickers, or cutout indications.  Overall a very fine jacket.
