Ryan Coogler's 1930s frontier vampire horror film Sinners arrives with a double vinyl soundtrack steeped in swampy blues, gospel, jazz and early soul, all written to be performed live on screen. Ludwig Goransson, a regular Coogler collaborator, worked closely with the director from the script phase, drawing on old field recordings and dusty 78s by Robert and Tommy Johnson to shape a period-authentic sound that nonetheless lands fresh as an unbitten neck. Sessions took place across Royal Studios in Memphis and a converted church in New Orleans, with performances by Cedric Burnside, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Brittany Howard, Raphael Saadiq and Buddy Guy, plus cast members like Jack O'Connell and Jayme Lawson. Rod Wave leads with the brooding single 'Sinners', while Hailee Steinfeld pens and sings the film's original song 'Dangerous', rounding out a serious sonic contribution to accompany one of the summer season's hottest blockbusters.
