Description
LADY DAY AND JOHN COLTRANE
GIL SCOTT-HERON with PRETTY PURDIE AND THE PLAYBOYS
Label & Cat.no: PHILIPS 6073 705
Year: 1972
Grade: GOOD or better. The A-side is in near mint condition, while the B-side is VG+ due to a single light scuff mark that doesn't affect play and also the sticker on the label which is removable (I've taken the same green sticker off several other singles with success but it's very tricky). This single is downgraded due to a tiny chip on the outer edge of the vinyl which is innocuous in itself except that it has caused a very small fracture about 2 mm in length which extends to the edge of the grooves. Otherwise the record plays fine, but I consider this serious enough to knock more than 50% off its value. I've tried to show
this defect in the last photo. You can see the tiny chip just to the left of
the number on the brass weight. The fracture is barely noticeable in the
photo but it's there, and playing the record safely means lifting the arm
or needle just past it and on to the start of the grooves to avoid a heavy click. Whether this is enough to justify a downgrade to only "good" you can judge for yourself. There is one other copy online at the time of listing from a UK seller priced at £550:
