GERRY MULLIGAN; BUD SHANK & CHET BAKER

You are bidding on three rare collectibles from Pacific Jazz records:

PJLP 1: Gerry Mulligan Quartet, recorded in 1952 and featuring Chet Baker.
For many of us (and I was in high school) this was the record that defined West Coast or Cool Jazz. It also led the way for numerous players who favored this sort of jazz: Shorty Rogers, Bud Shank, Art Pepper, Bill Holman, Shelley Manne...the list is endless. For those of us who moved to the West, like me from Detroit, to Southern California, we found heaven. My first visit to the Light House in Redondo Beach was to be transported to this heaven.

PJLP 11: Chet Baker Sings, recorded in 1954. Chet's very cool solo work and wistful voice mark this wonderful record.
Russ Freeman, Carson Smith, and Bob Neel, West Coasters all, are featured.

PJLP 14: Bud Shank and Three Trombones. Bud, who recently died at 81, was a West Coast mainstay in a variety of musical settings, in both small groups and large. I recall seeing him in 1950 with the Kenton Innovations orchestra playing flute... Here his alto is supported by a who's who of West Coast players: Bob Cooper; trombonists (all valve by the way) Maynard Ferguson (!!!), Bob Enevoldsen, and Stu Williamson; with a rhythm section of Shelly Manne, Joe Mondragon and Claude Williamson.

These have all be ported to CD's, but folks, these are original vinyls! All are in very good condition. Covers are scuffed, but these beauties are 50+ years old.

Now is you chance to own these classics!

Good luck and thanks for bidding!
