Description

Mega Rare Original 1969 Decca Records UK TRUE Stereo 1st Pressing (Blue/Silver Unboxed Decca Labels!) 'From Genesis To Revelation' by Genesis!!! In Absolutely BREATHTAKING Near Mint Visual & Aural Condition!!! - Unblemished 1st Press P1//P2 Thick & Chunky Vinyl!!! Complete with 1st Issue Robert Stace Laminated 'Pleated Spine' Sleeve with Correct 1st Issue Mono/Stereo Factory-Cut Hole in Reverse Side & Mega Rare Original Blue Bordered Decca Stereo Inner Sleeve!!! Finally it Comes Complete with its Original Lyric Insert Sheet!!! Very, Very Rare as a True UK Unboxed Stereo 1st Pressing and Impossible to Find in his Kind of Condition!!!

Here is another gem from my own mostly Nr Mint personal collection (which I am selling off gradually to lessen the pain...) I have been collecting very rare vinyl for a long time now. As a collector, I have been very critical about the condition of the records I have chosen to buy over the years, and only selected the most pristine 1st pressings from all over the UK.  My collection is therefore filled with not only the rarest UK 1st pressings, but also records of the highest grade quality condition, some of the best you will probably ever come across. Sadly, all will be finding new homes in the near future. As I said, I am very strict with my grading, so when I describe a record as Nr Mint - you can rest assured that it will be a true Nr Mint record (I never grade any records as Mint because Mint does not exist in the world of vintage vinyl - in my opinion, as soon as the record has been taken home from the store it is no longer Mint!!) I hope you enjoy my listings.

You are bidding on the best conditioned UK Unboxed U.K. Decca Stereo pressing of From Genesis To revelation I have ever seen. This is my very own keepers copy and is *Near Mint*! This very rare album simply never turns up in this kind of condition so please do not underestimate its rarity. To give you an idea of the value of this record please follow this popsike link showing another stereo 1st pressing that was recently sold on eBay is only in Excellent- condition; (http://www.popsike.com/php/detaildatar.php?itemnr=2542210326) Remember, the record you are bidding on here is vastly superior to the one in the link! You are bidding on the Genesis holy grail; a ***Near Mint*** UK Unboxed Stereo 1st pressing! It is the legendary debut LP by Genesis and it comes straight from my own archived Mint Genesis keepers collection which I will be selling off over the coming months. All records from this collection have been owned from new by me, placed into protective Poly sleeves from new and played only once to record. You will probably never see another copy of this UK LP approaching this condition again!!!

Aside from the flawless condition, there are a number of features that make this particular record very, very rare. Firstly it is the EARLIEST 1969 UK Unboxed Decca Stereo 1st Pressing on the Blue/Silver unboxed Decca labels. Matrix numbers are Side 1 - ZAL-8839.P-1W . Side 2 - ZAL-8840.P-2W, with the mega rare earliest 1st Stereo mother stampers: 1 C & 1 U!!!  Secondly it is complete with the very rare Earliest 1st Issue Robert Stace front laminated sleeve. It contains the important 1st press factory cut mono/stereo hole in the top right corner, which was used in conjunction with the blue/red bordered inner sleeve to identify album type, all later sleeves do not have this cut-out hole! It is also important to note that this record is fully complete with its TRUE UK 1st press blue bordered (stereo) inner sleeve. These are also very rare as they were made from very thin paper, often ripping and being replaced by generic inner sleeves. This one is perfect with no seam splitting etc. It has been treated as an insert and the record has long been stored in a separate replacement inner sleeve, with this original tucked safely away inside the sleeve, which is how it will come shipped to you. Further, this comes complete with its original lyric insert sheet! It is also in superb crisp condition and just adds the final touch to this amazing album!

The bottom line is that this record and sleeve are in STUNNING condition throughout!!! You will not find a better example! Like all 1st press copies of this legendary album, on the rare occasions it turns up today it almost always has been trashed; in terrible condition with lots of marks & scratches etc. This is because so few of these were ever produced on unboxed labels. Remember, when this was released in 1969 Genesis were an unheard of band, making groundbreaking music that had not been heard before, Decca only pressed a very limited quantity to cover any potential risk of the band bombing during this period. The album was only re-pressed on the boxed Decca labels when the label was sure supply would meet demand, it was then pressed in much greater quantities. Aside from being the true UK 1st pressing, what makes this one SO rare is its STUNNING condition!!! This thick & chunky vinyl has the most beautiful shop-fresh, deep glass-like shine I have ever seen, it really looks as if this record could have been pressed yesterday - it is that good!!!

This record is pure museum quality stuff and as such the bidding will be high, but trust me when I say this is one record well worth pushing the boat out for, you will never see another copy in this condition. A very serious record indeed and essential for any Near Mint Genesis/Psych/Prog. UK 1st press collection... Please see below for a detailed overall description... But rest assured, you will not find a better 1st press example anywhere today...

This vinyl is in stunning immaculate condition!!! The Classic 1st press Blue/Silver unboxed Decca centre labels are in pristine Near Mint condition with NO Tears, NO Peeling, NO Grubbyness, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!! There are NO spindle lines on Side 1!!! And just the very faintest trace of one on Side 2. Finding these labels with this kind of lack of spindle lines is impossible!!! Please see the close-up images I have provided below. I can safely tell you that this record has only ever seen a turntable once or twice (at most) before.  Play grading was done very lightly on a high grade Mitchell turntable so, to all intents and purposes, it doesn't really count as an additional play. The gramophone rims containing the all-important 1st press Matrix are also obviously Mint!!!

As described above - the thick & chunky 1st press vinyl itself is in Stunning Nr Mint condition!!! There are NO Hairlines, NO Scratches, NO Groovewear, NO warping, NO Scuffs - Not even any Paperlines!!!! In fact there are NO blemishes of any kind!!! It is pristine!! Which brings me nicely along the the play-grade, and it is a belter! It never saw one of the harsh 1960's mono needles that destroyed many records of the day. It has a beautiful loud clear and defined 1st press stereo punch that will blow you away! There is just a little background static audible towards the end of side two and that is it! The best copy I have heard! I have to keep reminding myself that I am describing a 40 year old record here, not one made last week!!! I can say nothing else about this chunky 1st press record - it's absolutely perfect and Near Mint!!! These Stereo P1//P2 1st pressings were straight from the masters and nothing even gets close to them today, especially when you find one in this kind of pristine audio condition! They play with a very loud punch but also deep clear warm chiming clarity and have to be heard to be believed! This is the best pressing you will hear and is far, far superior to the more common 'boxed' reissue pressings. Absolutely beautiful!!! The thick quality pressed chunky 1960's vinyl looks and feels great (it is very heavy!).

The classic 1st issue Robert Stace front laminated sleeve is ALSO superb! These sleeves suffered severe wear (especially to the unlaminated reverse side) and always turn up worn out and really nasty looking with bashed corners and splits etc. This one however is simply stunning, as I mentioned above, it was my keepers copy and was protected in a heavy-duty Polythene sleeve from new!!! I can say without hesitation that it will be one of the best examples you will probably ever come across, (it is much better than most of the later sleeves!!!)  I must also briefly mention the condition of the laminate here, which is absolutely phenomenal!!! It is so pristine it almost looks 'wet' in appearance!!! These sleeves are not usually as perfectly preserved as this and the laminate usually becomes very scuffed and dull looking, losing its shine. Not this one, it is pristine and looks just as it did from new!!! The opening edge only has the most minimal of feathering and the 1st issue 'pleated spine' is Near Mint with Mint legible gold spine text with NONE of the usual laminate cracking!!! There just a very thin laminate lift partway along the spine. There are NO Tears, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing etc of any kind!!! The corners are super sharp and it has retained 100% of its just pressed box shape (I have tried to show this on the images).  The unlaminated reverse side only shows a very faint (barely discernable) ring impression, but again, it is better than virtually every other copy you will see offered for sale. You will not find a better conditioned example than this!!! It goes without saying, but here is obviously no writing, scribbles repairs etc anywhere on the sleeve!  This mega rare sleeve easily grades as Ex+++++, it's as simple as that!!! What's more, it comes with its original lyric insert, which is ALSO in Stunning Ex++ condition!!! It is also complete with its original blue Decca poly-lined inner sleeve which is in Excellent condition with no seam splitting or wear, grubbiness etc!!! This rare inner will be safely tucked away inside the sleeve and the record will be housed in a replacement poly-lined inner for shipping. I can virtually guarantee that this is the absolute best Mint- copy of this rare UK Unboxed Decca 1st pressing you will ever see!!! Please so not miss it as it is my own best copy in Mint- condition, it has been archived for years and has barely ever seen the light of day. I do not have anymore in this kind of condition, so when this has gone it's gone...

I will be selling my entire UK 1st Press collection of 1960/70's Psych/Prog./Beat/Rock & Folk over the coming months, most of these records are in Mint- condition, many having 3 figure book prices. Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards.  If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...

Buyers who continually Haggle, Whine and Moan to try to decrease the price they won their auctions for will be blocked from bidding on future auctions and can toodle off down to HMV or Virgin where they can harass the counter staff there.

We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
