GENESIS – IN THE BEGINNING (1968)

12" LP MERCURY SR 61175 ORIGINAL TEXTURED COVER

This is major label American psychedelia at it's best. Originally released on Mercury Records in late 1967, this group from Los Angeles had a heavy, yet versatile sound.

This LP has nice arrangements with heavy fuzz guitar reminiscent of Iron Butterfly and The Maze.

"Angeline", "One Second Song" and "Gloomy Sunday" are the standout tracks, although the whole LP is very good. With male/female vocal harmonies, the female vocals are up there with the Nancy Trinity (Nansi Nevins, Nancy Nairn and Nancy Blossom) and the wonderful Dorothy Moskowitz.
