The great thing about 3D Country is how little interest the Geese gang have in repeating themselves. After the immediate post-punk rush of their debut, the Brooklyn five-piece head into much stranger sounds and gobble up country, psychedelia, blues, prog and classic rock before turning out something that is anything but safe and sensible. '2122' kicks the door in, while 'Cowboy Nudes' brings the swagger and 'Undoer' stretches into a wonderfully unhinged seven-minute freakout. Cameron Winter sounds completely at home barking, crooning and yelping his way through it all and Simian Mobile Disco man James Ford's production gives the chaos plenty of space and form. It's bold and slightly ridiculous in the best possible way as the band discovers just how far they can push things.
