16" Radio Transcription Disc Produced by MacGregor & Sollie featuring organist Gaylord Carter.
Gaylord Carter was a prolific organist beginning in the silent movie era through the 1990's
My best guess is this disc is late 1920's
Disc is 16 inches in diameter and made of heavy dark blue shellac
The name of the program is "Christmas Music" (organ) and features 9 Christmas songs with organ only, no vocal or dialogue. Of the 9 songs I was able to identify "O Come All Ye Faithful", "Silent Night", "The First Noel", "Joy To The World"
Etched into the side of the disc are the matrix numbers of "MS-A 1081 / MS-A 1082" along with "Chapelvox #17" and "Chapelvox #18".
I entered the information on the disc into Google's AI search feature, and the following identification was given:
"Based on the matrix number MS-A 1081, the label branding, and the specific program title, the recording artist is almost certainly Gaylord Carter.
Chapelvox/Cathedral Branding: These sub-labels were specifically used for MacGregor's Religious and Inspirational series. Carter provided the organ music for these series to be used by radio stations as bridge music, background for devotionals, or holiday specials."
Disc is in Excellent- Condition with Excellent- Sound, beautiful disc!
